東京2020年3月12日 /美通社/ -- 日本農林水產省動物檢疫所（Animal Quarantine Service, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries，簡稱「AQS」）宣佈，一名台灣婦女因從台灣攜帶法律禁止的動物產品進入日本而被逮捕。

自2018年8月以來，針對非洲豬瘟（簡稱「ASF」）在亞洲國家的流行，AQS 加強了對海外入境旅客行李中非法進口物品的管制措施。儘管在台灣尚未發現 ASF，但台灣被視為發生口蹄疫等惡性傳染病的地區，日本禁止從台灣進口肉類和肉製品。

這是台灣人因違反《家畜傳染病預防法》(Domestic Animal Infectious Diseases Control Law) 而被捕的第一起案件。這名婦女試圖從台灣走私豬肉和雞血。中部國際機場 (Chubu International Airport) 的 AQS 向警方投訴，警方最終逮捕了這名女子。
