沙特阿拉伯利雅德2024年7月3日 /美通社/ -- 聯合國宣布 2024 年 11 月 24 日將會成為「世界連體雙胞胎日」，並且每年都會舉行相關活動，以強調解決連體雙胞胎狀況的必要性，倡導對他們的治療和照顧，以及促進他們的福祉和社會共融。

沙特連體雙胞胎計劃自 1990 年開始以來一直是連體雙胞胎分離領域的領導者。計劃團隊已檢視來自 26 個國家的 139 宗個案，並成功分離 61 對連體雙胞胎。Abdullah Al Rabeeah 博士不僅是皇家法院的顧問和薩爾曼國王人道救援中心（King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, KSrelief）的總監，亦是著名的小兒外科醫生，他自計劃開始以來一直擔任沙特連體雙胞胎計劃的負責人。
